These are the pages of Mayflower Pilgrim historian and author Sue Allan ~ affectionately referred to by her followers as the Mayflower Maid . She hopes you enjoy this site and maybe even take a moment to drop her a line.
For almost two decades, Sue has been engrossed in the subject of the Mayflower Pilgrims. Her interest peaked while exploring the subject for her debut novel Mayflower Maid (2005) and from those unexpected beginnings, her interest has deepened and matured to such an extent that today she is recognized for her ground-breaking Mayflower research. Sue has also received critical acclaim for the numerous non-fiction books and articles she has published based on that research.
Apart from authoring five novels and ten non-fiction books, Sue has appeared in, and advised upon, numerous film and TV projects relating to the subject of the Mayflower Pilgrims including: ‘Who Do You Think You Are USA’, Kirk Cameron’s ‘Monumental’, BBC ‘Coast’, PBS Rick Burns ‘Pilgrims’, Channel 5 ‘Great British Ships’, as well as numerous radio appearances in both the US and UK.
Sue’s research has been highly influenced by her close association with research partners Caleb Johnson and Simon Neal, Mayflower groups and societies, but also through close interaction and discussion with the hundreds of ordinary Mayflower descendants who she has either met in person or who follow her on social media. It is this personal interaction, Sue says, with descendants that helps to constantly drive her research forward.
